Last night was session 3 of the Deadlands campaign. Again, I had a fun time. Ratcheted up the suspense factor, played around with the classic "Dungeon Crawl" experience (and tried my damndest to make it interesting/fun again), and saw the characters about 2/3 of the way through a combat before we called it a night. Tons of fun, some great drama and roleplaying, and the combat system (though slow as we all get used to it) is still relatively speedy when compared to traditional d20/DnD. Next week will probably reveal the end of this story (just in time for me to take the following week off for NECON). I had foolishly dreaded only having enough material for half a session last night so I started working on the follow-up adventure/story-plot (I suppose it's better to have too much than not enough). :) All told a cool time, and well worth being somewhat sneepy today (yes, sneepy).
Prior to session 3, we had a surprise visit from shogunhb (great to see you! We should go out for Indian food sometime...) and a nice dinner: tofu and veg, mushrooms (in a sugar, wine, something sauce) and rice. ladyscience also whipped up some baba ghanoush. Cookie (aka hntrpyanfar) went above and beyond the call of duty to not only make one pie (Plum, one of my all time favorites! And arterial red!) but two (also an apple-cranberry-raisen pie), which were both delicious, and I had three wonnerful (yes, wonnerful) pieces before getting the game rolling.
Good food, rescued children, encounters with vicious spider monsters, and such great lines as "I don't want no spider babies eating out my insides!" shadowravyn I smile and look forward to session 4.
