there!, Hello

The Traveling Robichauds

Hmmm. So, I have a lot to catch up on in this journal. Business, pleasure and other thangs.

Let's start with the Traveling Robichaud Road Trip.

So, hntrpyanfar’s younger brother Jordan decided to take the plunge and tie the knot. As this has been one of the Year of Journeys for our little household, Trista and I decided to drive to Michigan (instead of one more expensive plane ticket). Well, then we heard about Gary Braunbeck’s Columbus reading, the Saturday before Jordan’s big wedding, so we decided “Hey, why not try to make it there, too?” After seeing las at NECON we decided, “Yes, let’s see the reading.”

Then, hntrpyanfar’s best friend since high school called us to chit chat and we thought, why not make a beeg treep and see everyone we can? So, that’s what we did.

Yep, the Robichauds went from Worcester to Pittsburgh to Columbus to Detroit to Lansing and back again. About two thousand miles, one collision and several dollars later, I can now answer the question “Was the trip was worth it?” with a resounding “Youbetcha!”

An aside: If you like good fiction with a dark bent, you can’t ask for better than Masques V, it’s got some fantastic stories by such wonderful authors as Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, Richard Christian Matheson, Poppy Brite, Gary A. Braunbeck, and Lucy A. Snyder. You will not be disappointed.

So, we toodled around Fraser and Warren and Eastpointe (which will always be East Detroit in my heart and memory) until Thursday, when we drove up to Waterford to see Trista's parents.

Monday morning, we drove the 14 hours back home. All told, a wonderful time.

Then, on Tuesday morning, we found that the water heater for our apartment was broken and needed to be replaced. Well, life can't leave you feeling too good, can it? J All told, it was a great trip.
